How to...

Notes from our 'How to...' brief, which we are completing in groups.

Our first task for this 'How to...' brief was to list all the problems we, as students, have encountered since moving to Leeds.

Once we had comprised our list of problems, we then narrowed these down to just five problems. These were all put into a hat, along with the other groups suggested problems. We then randomly picked a problem out of a hat ....our group got 'Weather conditions in Leeds.'

This is our brainstorm of all things weather related ..all to get our ideas flowing!!

We then came up with a 'Problem' and 'Solution'.
Our problem was new students not being used to the weather in Leeds and our solution was to provide information on how to use household equipment to make the bare essentials needed.

This lists 11 ways in which we could convey this information to students.

These 11 ideas were narrowed down to 3 by our group, we filled out these forms for each idea. Another group then decided which format our 'How to...' should take. It was decided that we should produce posters to convey our message.

We categorised our brainstormed list into winter related and summer related products. We each chose one product, making sure we had picked two from summer and two from winter within our group of four. I was given the job of communicating how to construct a man-size tissue! So the research began.

I sketched a few layout designs.

Our group came up with this basic design, although we're all going to modify it slightly to suit our product.

...my constructed 'mansize' tissue!

I found I needed some imagery on my poster, so decided to take my own photographs of my friend Liv modelling a tissue in the style of the 50's Kleenex advert.
