This week we were given the task of creating type through space. Our group chose the letter O to work with......
Firstly we attempted to create our letter O by cutting it into sections and positioning each section at different distances from the viewfinder, using nearby objects to prop them up.
This was successful until we reached the second curve, then problems arose in our ability to accurately create this.
We decided then to take a different route. We attempted to design our O so that is could be seen by looking up. To do this we began making 4 O's, all of which increased slightly in size the closer to the ceiling they were. Holes were then cut into these circles to produce the letter O formation.
However, we found that when we went to attach the O's to the ceiling it was difficult to align then correctly and the centre hole were not all cut out properly to make a smooth O.
So, we then went back to our first idea but simplified it. Instead of using objects to position the sections of our letterform, we were just simple going to have it across a table. This is our result........
.....finally, we got there!
